EAST celebrates full 132kV accreditation!

We have achieved another exciting milestone at EAST Solutions as we celebrate full accreditation for 132kV installation across all work scopes. Looking ahead into 2023 we look forward to delivering further 132kV jobs across a range of industries. This strengthens our service offering and means we can offer a complete solution – design, installation, commissioning as well as ongoing operations and maintenance of a network across the UK at 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and 132kV. A huge well done to all involved in meeting this milestone!

EAST supplies electrical infrastructure for Europe’s largest river source heat pump

In a bid to seek out environmentally responsible initiatives that would enable the production of fruit outside of the UK growing season, EAST was tasked with suppling Clock House Farms with an electrical infrastructure to help facilitate the sourcing of water from the local River Medway, powering heat pumps across the clients site into individual greenhouses. Now energised, Clock House Farm can enjoy a saving of 3,800 tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to a gas heated greenhouse as well as production of fruit outside of the UK growing season.

As businesses expand operations to meet demand, innovation is fundamental for opening new ways of utilising energy from local, natural and sustainable sources. This is critical for the future development of electricity networks across the UK.

2021 Christmas Event

We were pleased to see many of our colleagues enjoy a slightly different day together when we held our annual company event for this year. Colleagues from across the business spent the day paintballing, at the spa or playing golf before everyone came together for a 3 course evening meal.

Many thanks to our two hosts Combat Paintballing Ltd and Barnham Broom Hotel, Golf and Spa for allowing us to spend the day with them.

Private Wire

Have you installed renewable energy generation – solar, wind, anaerobic digestion (AD) on your land?

Would you like to maximise the return on your investment?

If so, at Energy And System Technical (EAST Solutions) we have delivered a number of schemes where we have found a private consumer for the electricity that is being generated via renewable sources. These end users are typically a local industrial/manufacturing/commercial business that are looking to expand and therefore need more power.

We call this a “private wire” meaning that the electricity is delivered between a connection from the renewable energy generator through to the demand user, without the need for exporting all of the energy generated to the grid.

A number of our clients have found this to be a commercially beneficial arrangement as opposed to just generating back into the national distribution electricity network.

At EAST we can undertake the complete project lifecycle including:

  • Concept design/investigation
  • Introductions to local, potential demand users
  • Technical studies/system design
  • Procurement of infrastructure
  • Installation of the network to connect both parties
  • Test and commissioning
  • Ongoing operations and maintenance all supported with 24/7/365 callout cover

If you think this concept may work for you, then please get in touch to discuss further.

You will find on our website a case study for a similar recently completed project https://www.east-solutions.co.uk/private-networks/

Engineering Standards Manual

Over the last few months, we have been producing our own Engineering Standards Manual (ESM). This manual covers conduct, health, safety and environment, design, technical, operations, maintenance, installation and commissioning.

Thanks to contributions from right across our business we have been able to produce this manual which outlines the workmanship and standards that we work too. The ESM will be available to all of our colleagues as well as any new recruits.

Thank you to all those who helped to contribute to the ESM.

HV Switchgear – Remote Monitoring System

Over the last couple years EAST have been working closely with our supply chain and retrofitting a number of remote monitoring systems to our clients wind and solar farm sites.

These cost effective installations can be undertaken in a matter of hours and offer the client a whole range of benefits, including:

  • Email/text alerts following event on the network
  • Enable site operators to view status of their network remotely
  • Identify type of fault with time log to identify patterns – Overcurrent/earth fault ,G59, DNO loss of mains
  • Identify if DNO circuit breaker is open to ensure correct SAP is called out – DNO and/or your HV contractor
  • The system has a back up battery so transmission is maintained

In addition we can also set the system up to offer remote circuit breaker operation – this has the potential to significantly reduce the cost of engineer callouts to reset the wind farm network following on from a trip event.

If this system is of interest and you would like more information please get in touch.

EAST Supports Anaerobic Digestion Generation Plant Operators

11/05/20

Do you own and operate an Anaerobic Digestion Electricity Generation Plant?

Have you experienced problems with the balance of the current across the alternator of the CHP unit?

At Energy And System Technical, we have had a number of clients experiencing similar issues for their AD plants which are connected to rural grid networks

Over the last year we have been able to help address these issues with our clients by offering an innovative installation that reduces the occurrence of the network tripping due to imbalance. Our clients have been able to see a reduction in such trips of up to 90% following on from EAST’s innovative approach.

If these issues sound familiar please get in touch for a more detailed discussion and to see how EAST can help you.
