 Job Summary 

As a HSQ Manager,  you will play a pivotal role in promoting a robust health, safety and quality  culture across our organisation. You will ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, internal policies, and best practices, fostering a proactive approach to HSQ issues. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving behavioural change, improving HSQ performance, and leading initiatives that contribute to a safe and sustainable workplace.

 What You Will Do 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety (H&S) policies, legislation, and guidance.

  • Manage and update company management systems for health, safety, and quality.

  • Collaborate with the senior management team to develop strategies for improved H&S performance and implement behavioural change initiatives.

  • Conduct in-house H&S training sessions.

  • Liaise with clients on H&S issues and best practices.

  • Assist project managers regarding CDM requirements and the production of Construction Phase Plans.

  • Investigate incidents and produce detailed reports, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for improvement.

  • Analyse accident and incident statistics, identify trends, and propose improvement plans.

  • Raise awareness of H&S issues through toolbox talks and briefings.

  • Provide training for new starters on company documents, systems, and processes.

  • Demonstrate understanding of ISO 9001 general principles of internal and on-site auditing.

  • Ensure adherence to all company accreditations, including managing annual renewals and passing external audits as required.

  • Conduct on-site H&S inspections to monitor company performance.

  • Quality check all documents and ensure updates, reviews, and changes are logged and implemented as necessary.

  • Perform internal document audits to ensure compliance with processes and procedures.

  • Conduct subcontractor audits, review and approve new subcontractor applications, ensuring compliance with company H&S standards and requirements.

  • Complete pre-qualification questionnaires and annual customer documentation/information updates.

 Ideal Candidate Experience

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification in health and safety.

  • Experience in health and safety within an engineering or construction environment.

  • Experience of conducting internal and external audits, including on-site reviews.

  • Familiarity with NERS and its relevance to the industry.

  • Understanding of ISO 9001.

  • Proficient in using IT tools and systems for reporting, data analysis, and documentation management.

  • Full clean driving licence.
